The small hatch cover is referred to as the size of holes, with a person can easily opening and closing the hatch cover. There are two main types of the commonly used small hatch cover, one kind is weathertight hatch cover, usually installed in the freeboard deck above the layers of the outdoor deck and semi-closed superstructure or deck of the ministry of interior on deck; Another is weathertight hatch cover, can only be used for internal deck or platform of the ship. In addition, there is some special hatch cover, such as cargo oil tank oil hatch covers, hatch cover ventilation, etc., should be according to the requirements of ship set.
Unless it is specially designed small hatch cover cannot be used for a tank top. Weathertight hatch cover can only carry foreign waves of attacks, can't bear strong water pressure from the cabin, so for the ship after the damage needs to be watertight deck or platform, should not set up small hatch cover.
